El doctor Albert Jovell publica 'Te puede pasar a ti', un breve libro para reflexionar sobre el presente y el futuro del sistema público de la salud, tras las políticas de austeridad aplicadas abruptamente en el sistema sanitario público.
En este libro, el Dr. Albert Jovell testimonia "las bondades morales de un sistema sanitario, que si bien es mejorable, ha formado a muchos profesionales y ha permitido que muchas personas disfruten de una buena calidad de vida a pesar de tener que convivir con una enfermedad".
Muestra que de manera crítica y reflexiva que "la necesidad de defender un justo sistema sanitario en tiempos de crisis es obligatoria cuando éste está siendo cuestionado desde diferentes intereses particulares". Estos intereses, en la situación actual, podrían promover el desmantelamiento del sistema público, e instaurar un modelo que podría penalizar a los más vulnerables.
En el libro, da testimonio de "las bondades morales de un sistema sanitario, que si bien es mejorable, ha formado a muchos profesionales y ha permitido que muchas personas disfruten de una buena calidad de vida a pesar de tener que convivir con una enfermedad".
Para Jovell, la salud de la población es mucho mejor en las sociedades igualitarias y, por tanto las políticas sanitarias deben orientarse a corregir estas desigualdades, por lo que considera justo y necesario defender este sistema que da seguridad y protección a los ciudadanos con indiferencia de su enfermedad, nivel socioeconómico, edad y procedencia.
